MOT's at Kevs Van Rentals
Vehicles that are older than 3 year require a yearly MOT inspection by law. The Ministry of Transport test (MOT) is designed ensure the vehicle meets minimum safety standards and levels of exhaust emissions set out by the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, formerly VOSA).
MOT's are undertaken by a nominated tester that is accredited by DVSA to conduct a roadworthy test on your vehicle. The test itself is a series of comprehensive checks around the vehicle, including the interior, exterior, under the bonnet and the underside of the vehicle. Although this check is to deem your vehicle fit and safe for the road, this test should not be mixed up with a service, if you require a service then visit our vehicle servicing page.
Because an MOT is a legal obligation, the results are recorded; If your car / van passes an MOT then then you will be issued with a VT20 Pass Certificate, and if there are things which could cause issue in the foreseeable future a list of advisories for you to keep an eye on. However if the vehicle fails it will be issued with a VT30 Failure Document which will advise on what caused the failure based on the condition of the car / van on the given day
Don't worry, if your vehicle fails an MOT, or has a few advisories that you wish to take care of right away, our friendly, highly skilled team of professional mechanics are able to undertake a massive variety of repairs & maintenance tasks. If you'd like further information please visit our Repairs & Garage Work Page.
What's Earliest date you can get an MOT?
Your vehicles MOT lasts for a year. The date it runs out is displayed on the last pass certificate. You don't have to wait until that day to get an MOT test done, in fact it recommended you get a retest done with enough time to repair any failures before that date. This is why you can get an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date, giving you a possible 13 month MOT.
Not sure when your vehicles MOT is due? Use the Direct Gov Mot & Tax Checker, all you need is your car / van registration number and the manufacturer name.
What you need to bring
All you need to bring with you is the actual vehicle, everything else can be looked up on the DVSA system, however, to save the tester time, if you have old MOT certificate please bring that along as well.
